A lovely house, very warm, clean, well laid out and spacious. The host was very welcoming and had added some Christmas touches to add a seasonal feel.

We regret to report our 5-night stay was severely compromised by unacceptable conditions that made the property unclean and made for an uncomfortable stay. The issues were immediate and inescapable: The unit smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and cannabis upon entry. The smell permeated every room. Despite airing out the property, the odors persisted throughout our entire stay, causing headaches and discomfort. Our belongings were affected by the stench as wel. Multiple cigarette butts were found in the back garden as well as IN the sofa. We paid for a 5-night vacation but endured a stressful, unhealthy environment. We felt trapped with no alternative accommodation readily available. We had to spend part of our vacation cleaning a property that we expected would be prepared and cleaned upon our arrival, as promised and as advertised.There are also some discrepancies in the property listing versus the actual property, such as no sitting/dining area outdoors, which, apart from the cleanliness factor, was another big reason for choosing this property for our family. There is also no television in the bedroom (as pictured); not a huge deal but with children, this would have been nice to have. We notified the host immediately upon finding the cigarette butts in the sofa and in the back garden. The host did communicate via VRBO as well as via telephone and we were offered a small reimbursement. We will no longer book VRBO properties and will stick with a hotel.
